MAKHACHKALA, November 4 (AVN) -- A 200-strong guerrilla group has been spotted in caves between the localities of Kadar and Duregli in Dagestan, a spokesman for the eastern federal headquarters said on Thursday.
The backbone of the gang is formed by armed extremists who remained in Dagestan after the defeat of the Chechen guerrilla invasion this August, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. However he did not exclude that the Kadar zone serves as an assembly point for small militant groups which inflitrate from Chechnya.
