TWO RUSSIAN SERVICEMEN ARRESTED FOR STEALING MILITARY TRUCKS

MOSCOW, November 4 (AVN) -- Police officers in the central Russian city of Orel have detained two servicemen who stole four military ZIL-131 trucks in the past two years, a spokesman for the Interior Ministry chief anti-mafia department said on Thursday.

The thieves were an ensign and a mayor who served in a local army unit, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. The latter headed the unit's vehicle park.

The two would steal trucks and sell them at a considerably high price, thus gaining as mich as 650,000 roubles (about 25,000 U.S. dollars), the spokesman said. He declined to give the name of the detained.
