RUSSIA'S IZHEVSK PLANT TO BEGIN PRODUCTION OF THREE NEW CARBINES

IZHEVSK, November 4 (AVN) -- The Izhevsk arms plant is planning to begin serial production of thee new hunting carbines to mark the 80th birthday of famous Russian arms designer Mikhail Kalashnikov, the Military News Agency learned on Thursday.

The first two carbines - Saiga 410-K-02 with the folding butt and short barrell and Saiga-M-3 - are created on the basis of the wolrd-famous Kalashnikov submachine-gun. The third is the next nodification of the Tigr self-loading hunting carbine with an effective compact flame-arrester, created on the basis of the Dragunov sniper rifle. It can also be equipped with a scope sight.
