RUSSIAN GOVT TO PROVIDE FINANCIAL AID TO DAGESTAN

MOSCOW, November 4 (AVN) -- The Russian government has decided to provide 439 million roubles (about 16.9 million U.S. dollars) for relief works in Botlikh and Tsumadinsky districts of the North Caucasian Dagestani autonomous republic, Gaji-Magomed Gamzayev, Dagestan's envoy to President Boris Yeltsin, said on Thursday.

At the same time, the republic's Buinaksk and Novolaksky districts will receive 631 million roubles (about 24.2 million dollars), Gamzayev told a briefing in the Russian Information Centre.

According to him, damages caused to the republic by the recent guerrilla invasion and the resulting hostilities are estimated at 15 bliion roubles (about 576 million dollars).
