KHRUNICHEV CENTRE MAKES ROCKET WITH REUSABLE FIRST STAGE

MOSCOW, November 19 (AVN) -- Khrunichev space centre have completed works on the Angara-1BA all-azimuth light rocket-carrier equipped with reusable first stage boost cluster that can return to the start point in accordance with plane scheme.

Anatoly Kiselyov, the general director of the Khrunichev space centre told the Military News Agency that new rocket is to be equipped with two-position folded wing in the inter-tank section.

The tail section of the rocket will have all-turn unit while the nose section is to be equipped with additional air-breathing engine to provide cruising flight.

The stage will land on retractable landing gear.

Angara-1BA will completely prevent first stages fall on the earth, Kiselyov added.

Angara-1BA is planned to be tested on Plesetsk cosmodrome in 2003.
