ASTRAKHAN, November 23 (AVN) - General staff plans to strengthen the Caspian Navy group radically in 2000.
A source in the Caspian flotilla staff told the Military News Agency that a marine brigade is to be organised here.
Nowadays two marine battalions exist in Kaspiisk and Dagestan's Makhachkala; commanders plan to add two more battalions and dislocate them in Astrakhan's suburbs.
Navy paratroops are also to be enlarged.
New landing boat built in Ribinsk came to Caspian Sea in the beginning of November.
