LANGKAVI, December 2 (AVN) - Ulianovsk automobile plant exhibits its suggestions on ZSU-23-4M Shilka modernisation at the fifth International Military and Aerospace show LIMA-99 in Malaysia.
Modernised Shilka is very effective in terms of defending military detachments, stationary objects and marching columns from tactical aviation and fire support helicopters that work from 25 to 1500 metres high with up to 500 m/s speed for up to 2500 metres distance, the general director of the Ulianovsk enterprise Vyacheslav Abanin told the Military News Agency.
The quad shoots 3500 shells per minute.
Modernised Shilka has aerosol protection from the high-accuracy weapon with laser guidance, electro-optical watch and guidance devices (including driver TV watch device), hydraulic-volume transmission.
Since 60th Russia has supplied 30 countries with about 3 000 Shilkas.
Nowadays Egypt, Algeria, Syria, Jordan, Vietnam, Laos, Angola and many other countries have it in their armies.
Ulianovsk representatives have already had some negotiations on the modernisation under the show programme.
Modernisation is rather attractive as it costs five times less that a new launcher.
