MOSCOW, December 2 (AVN) - Lieutenant-general Mikhail Oparin, 37th air army of the Supreme Chief commanders chief told the Military News Agency that it is not yet necessary to use long-range aviation against guerrillas in Chechnya.

Su-24 front-line bombers and Su-25 attack planes and fire support helicopters shoot extremists' positions in Argun, Urus-Martan and Alkhan-Urt.

The weather allows Federals to use practically all airdromes of the North Caucasus region.

If Federals need to use precise ammo and big bombs than Tu-95 long-range bombers may participate in the operation, Oparin stated.

Russians already have an experience of using aviation of this type in mountainous fortified districts as these planes supported Russian's leaving Afhgnistan. Those days Tu-95 and Tu-22M bombers precisely attacked guerrillas who planned to attack soviet troops.

The 37th air army is ready to fulfil any task, including liquidation guerrillas in Chechnya, Oparin added.
