MOSCOW, December 8 (AVN) - The Russian Navy will intensify combat training at Barents Sea testing grounds in the year 2000, a source in the Navy Staff said on Wednesday.
The training will involve all services and forces of the Northern Fleet, the source told the Military News Agency. Besides undergoing a complex combat training course once in the training period, the Northern Fleet will for the first time in the recent years hold planned tactic exercises with full-scale designation of forces.
At the same time, the fleet will mount search anti-submarine operations and hold several expeditions of its surface ships and submarines to the area of the Medvezhy Island, the source said.
