ST.PETERSBURG, December 8 (AVN) - The council of CIS border guard chiefs will hold its 36th session in the CIS Inter-Parliamentary Assembly headquarters here on Wednesday, a spokesman for the Russian Federal Border Guard Service told the Military News Agency.
The council will sum up its work in 1999 and consider prospects of interaction and joint operations aimed at enforcement of border security, the spokesman said.
Several bilateral meetings will also be held, he added. For example, head of the Russian Federal Border Guard Service will meet his Georgian counterpart Valery Chkheidze to discuss situation on the Chechnya-Georgia border.
The spokesman also mentioned consultations between Ukrainian and Byelorussian border guard chiefs, as well as between members of the customs union: Russia, Byelorussia, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.
