NEW CHIEF OF CHECHEN POLICE APPOINTED

MOSCOW, December 9 (AVN) - Colonel Viktor Novikov has been appointed chief of the Chechen police department, a source in the Interior Ministry told the Military News Agency on Thursday.

Novikov, 48, has been serving in police since 1972. He graduated from the Volgograd Higher Investigation School. Before his current appointment, Novikov was working as first deputy police chief in the southern Russian Volgograd region.
