RUSSIA TO USE ULTRAHIGH-FREQUENCY TECHNOLOGIES IN SAPPER EQUIPMENT

MOSCOW, December 9 (AVN) - Central Research Institute 15 of the Defence Ministry has held a conference to discuss development of new engineering equipment for the Russian Armed Forces, Institute Director Alexander Averchenko said on Thursday.

It is the first time the institute invites famous non-staff scientists to discuss its future development, Averchenko told the Military News Agency.

The conference paid special attention to the use of pontoon and fortification equipment in Chechnya, the director said. The key point of the event was the speech delivered by Doctor of Technology Anatoly Dolgolaptev. He took the floor to report about the use of superhigh-frequency generators for dissociation of rocks. This technology can serve as a basis for creation of a new type of sapper devices, Dolgolaptev said.

According to the doctor, his League for Assistance to Defence Industry Enterprises and the Defence Ministry are planning to hold similar conferences on development of aviation, missile and other armament.
