RUSSIAN PM NOT TO STOP OPERATION IN CHECHNYA

MOSCOW, December 22 (AVN) - Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin and American Deputy State Secretary Straub Talbott are expected to discuss Russian-American relations in the sphere of reducing nuclear arsenals and 1972 ABM Treaty's modification, the Military News Agency learned from Putin's press-secretary Mikhail Kozhukhov.

Talbott will try to force Russian Prime Minister stop battles against guerrillas in Chechnya, Vladimir Petrovsky, member of Russian Academy of Military Sciences told the Military News Agency.

The present US administration has its own interest in stopping the Chechen war as it may help it in the election campaign.

Nevertheless taking into account the mood in the army and society Russian government will not agree to that, Petrovsky assures.
