MOSCOW, December 29 (AVN) - The RF Security Council's scientific council has held it's plenary session chaired by Secretary of the Security Council Sergei Ivanov on Wednesday, a source in the RF SC told the Military News Agency.
The session has discussed the directions of development of the scientific council as well as scientific methods of solving the problems of national security.
In his report Sergei Ivanov stated that "Security Council's scientific council must concentrate on forecasting and evaluating national threats and binding scientific basis for resisting, neutralising and acting against them."
Soon the council is to discuss state role in meeting economic crisis and providing economic reorganisations.
Re-establishing state institutions and social and economical sphere in Chechnya together with providing stability in the North Caucasus region will become the subject of serious scientific work.
The authorities hope that scientific potential of the RF Security Council's scientific council members will provide the country with industrial and technological security, allow successful reforms in state military structures, protect state and personal interests from inner and outer threats.
In accordance with the presidential decree on the RF Security Council's scientific council members as of September 1999 representatives of Russian Academy of Science, branch academies of sciences, scientific organisations leaders, other specialists participate in the council. Their work in the council is unpaid.
The council's decisions are permissive.
The council directs its annual reports to RF Security Council chief.
