RUSSIA TO HAVE NEW DRONE

MOSCOW, January, 5 (AVN) - Yakovlev design bureau has finished conceptual design of the Albatros distantly piloted vertical take off and landing aircraft, chief designer Yury Yankevich told the Military News Agency.

The aircraft will have much better characteristics than the Pchela that is now being successfully used in Chechnya.

The Albatros will be equipped with 160 horse power engine that will allow a 450 kilogram take off weight aircraft to fly at 0 to 350 km/h speed on up to 3,500 metres height.

The take-off speed is expected to be 9 m/s, with over 100 kilometres range (Pchela's range is up to 60 kilometres).

New aircraft can carry day and night intelligence equipment and supply servicemen with intelligence data in real time mode.

Albatros will be used together with guide point and service means.

It does not need special launcher and can take off from the seven square meter ground.
