FINNISH MILITARY DELEGATION TO INSPECT RUSSIA'S MURMANSK REGION

MURMANSK, January 10 (AVN) - A military delegation from Finland will arrive in the northern Russian town of Murmansk on Monday evening, a spokesman for the Leningrad military district headquarters told the Military News Agency.

The delegation aims to inspect implementation of the 1994 Wienna agreement on enforcement of trust and co-operation in Europe. In particular, they want to make sure that Russia does not hold large-scale military exercises in this area. Ground and air transports will be used in the inspection.

A total of 20 installations will be visited, Colonel Petr Kolvzan, head of the treaties implementation department of the Leningrad district, told the Agency. Last year, 27 inspections were held in Russia and none exposed any violations, he added.
