CHINA TO BE INTERESTED IN RUSSIAN TRANSPORT AND ATTACK HELI

MOSCOW, January 19 (AVN) - A Chinese delegation has come to Moscow's Mil helicopter plant to study MI-8AMTS technical and combat characteristics, the Military News Agency learned from the plant's executive director Vitaly Scherbina.

On Wednesday Chinese specialists are expected to watch the helicopter in the air and on the ground in Moscow's Lyubertsi.

MI-8AMTS helicopter is produced at Ulan-Ude aviation plant (Baikal region). It differs from the basic MI-8 model by more powerful armament.

Apart from an aviation cannon and jet-rockets it is also equipped with the Storm complex with eight anti-tank missiles. This allows the aircraft attack armoured targets and long term firing points, land the troops from aboard, and eliminate the enemy.

Ulan-Ude aviation plant Deputy Director Denis Manaturov and Mil helicopter certification specialist German Leonov represent Russian side at the negotiations.

It is expected that after Moscow Chinese specialists will leave for Ulan-Ude to watch MI-8AMTS production.
