GENEVA, January 19 (AVN) - The next round of the Russian-American consultation on 1972 ABM treaty modification started on Wednesday in Geneva.
Yury Kapralov, Russian Foreign Ministry defence and disarmament department chief, leads the Russian delegation. The American delegation is heade by Assistant Secretary of State on armament control and international defence John Holam leads.
The first meeting took place in Moscow, August 17-19, 1999.
Russia is to stay for the wholeness of the international agreements anti-ballistic missiles, Russia's representative at the Permanent consultative commission on the 1972 ABM treaty told the Military News Agency.
Such negotiations are always difficult, and the 1972 ABM treaty negotiations are accentuated by the constant changes in the world and difficult economic situation in Russia, the diplomat added.
Geneva's round will last till Friday.
