OVER 40 LARGE-SCALE TAX CRIMES EXPOSED IN RUSSIA'S KAMCHATKA IN 1999

PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, January 24 (AVN) - Tax police officers in the Russian Far Eastern Kamchatka region exposed 43 large-scale tax crimes last year, Alexander Tretyakov, head of the Kanchatka tax police department, said on Monday.

Over 90 inspections were held in Kamchatka last year, Tretyakov told the Military News Agency. They helped expose over 60 violations of tax laws. The amount of damages repaid by offenders rose 14 times compared to 1998, he said.

According to Tretyakov, effectiveness of tax police operations doubled in Kamchatka last year.
