MURMANSK, January 24 (AVN) - Police officers in the northern Russian Murmansk region committed 24 crimes last year, the Military News Agency learned in the regional police department.
A total of 25 Murmansk policemen were involved in various crimes in 1999, eight of them are already convicted, a department official said. Last year, local courts convicted 29 police officers. For example, two of them were found guilty in diclosing classified information and transferring operative data to interested individuals.
The regional police department is currently investigating several other criminal cases involving as many as 32 policemen.
