KHANKALA, January 31 (AVN) - Federal forces have captured over 200 Chechen guerrillas in the past 48 hours, a spokesman for the federal command told the Military News Agency on Monday.
According to him, 128 rebels laid down their arms voluntarily, on agreement with pro-Russian militia leader Bislan Gantamirov. Most of them are young people aged between 18 and 25.
The captives claim that many other rebels who are fighting against the federals in Grozny are also ready to surrender, but are afraid of their commanders' revenge. "We are just bombfood for them," the captives said.
