MOSCOW, January 31 (AVN) - Federal law-enforcement agencies have detained 427 criminals in Chechnya since the beginning of the anti-guerrilla operation in this North Caucasian republic, Colonel-General Vladimir Kolesnikov, first deputy interior minister, said on Monday.
Among them were 100 persons wanted throughout the country, Kolesnikov told the Military News Agency. The federals also brought to justice 700 illegal owners of arms, located 187 stolen cars, and eliminated 636 illegal oil refineries, he added.
According to him, a law envisaging absolute fingerprinting of all Russian citizens is necessary for effective measures against crime. "It will help the law-enforcement agencies and the entire society in their fight against terrorism and all manifestations of crime," the general said.
