MOSCOW, January 31 (AVN) The results of the tender for designing a new corvette for the Russian Navy will be drawn up in the end of March, a source in the Navy armament staff told the Military News Agency.
According to the source "no special financing is presupposed by the tender and the participants are acting on a strictly voluntarily basis and at their own expenses."
The enterprises have to introduce three models of the ship with 700t, 1,400t, and 2,000 displacement. The corvette is to be a multipurpose ship, capable of effecting various tasks in the coastal area and inner waters. It is also to be fitted with a cost-effective diesel power-supply unit.
Presumably, an export modification is to be elaborated for the model approved by the Navy.
The list of participants is kept secret, but according to the Agency's data, the Sevenoye design bureau, Almaz enteprise, and Zelenodolskoye design bureau (Tatarstan) are taking part in the tender.
