13 INGUSHS ARRESTED FOR ILLEGAL CROSSING OF POLISH BORDER

MINSK, February 1 (AVN) - Belarussian border guards and agents of the State Security Committee (KGB) have detained 13 residents of the North Caucasian Ingush autonomous republic in the western Belarussian Grodon region, a spokesman for the KGB Grodno department said on Tuesday.

The Ingushs were detained when they attempted at leaving for Poland, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. The passports they presented had clear traces of corrections and erasure. Besides, being residents of Ingushetia's Nazran and Larabulak towns, they had documents of refugees from Grozny. Moreover, the men carried USD7,000 which they did not declare at the customs.

Russian and Belarussian law-enforcement agencies are currently trying to identify the travellers.
