KYRGYZSTAN TO PREPARE FOR INTERNATIONAL EXERCISE

BISHKEK, February 2 (AVN) - Kyrgyzstan prepares for the spring international exercise in which Russia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan are also expected to participate, the Military News Agency learned from Kyrgyzstan's Defence Ministry.

The exact date of the exercise is to be set later; it is not least connected with the possible advance of local Islamic extremists, currently located in the mountainous districts and preparing for spring actions.

The future exercise will help CIS armies to learn how to fight in the mountains.

It is not unlikely that border guards will participate in the exercise together with army men to help Kyrgyz Border Guard Service that has to accomplish its mission under lack of finance, the source added.
