KHANKALA, February 2 (AVN) - It is not unlikely that big detachments of Chechen rebels may try to break into Chechnya's adjacent Dagestan, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.
At present the eastern group of federal troops is responsible for the territory close to Dagestan. It was decided to organise a separate Botlikh front in this group.
Major-General Alexander Larchenko, the North Caucasus military district deputy commander on combat training, is appointed commander of the newly organised front.
