ST.PETERSBURG, February 2 (AVN) -- The officers' club of St. Petersburg's Agalatovo garrison parted with Colonel Mikhail Maidanov, Hero of the USSR on Wednesday.
Commander of helicopter regiment Mikhail Maidanov was killed in action in Chechnya.
The ceremony was attended by Russian Armed Forces Aviation Commander, Hero of the USSR, Colonel-General Vitaly Pavlov, Leningrad military district Commander, Colonel-General Valentin Bobryshev, Maidanov's fellow servicemen and brothers-in-arms.
The hero was buried at the Serafimovskoye cemetery at 14.00 Moscow time (1100 GMT.)
Mikhail Maidanov, had a wife and two sons, both of them followed in their father's steps. The younger is a cadet of the Military Engineering University Affiliate, and the elder studies in a helicopter college in Syzran, Volga region.
