CIS MILITARY CO-OPERATION STAFF TO HAVE TRAINING IN TAJIKISTAN

MOSCOW, February 11 (AVN) - A group of generals and officers from the CIS military co-operation co-ordianting staff headed by its deputy head Colonel-General Leonid Maltsev left for Dushanbe on Friday, the Military News Agency learned from the staff.

A staff training, that is the main stage of preparations for the Commonwealth South Shield 2000 coalition exercise, is to take place in Tajik capital. The coalition exercise itself is expected to take place in Central Asia in March-April.

Officers from Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan participate in the training that is aimed to form a staff for the future exercise.

The staff of the previous Commonwealth South Shield exercise consisted of the CIS Military Co-operation Staff officers.

During the staff training it is presupposed to conduct the reconnaissance of the troops marching routes and the Tajik testing grounds where the last stage of the exercise with combat shooting is to take place.
