UKRAINIAN YAVOROVO TESTING GROUND TO RECEIVE NATO CERTIFICATE

LVOV, February 11 (AVN) - Yavorovo testing ground is being prepared for receiving a certificate on training NATO peacemakers, Lieutenant-General Vladimir Kondratenko, Western tactical group deputy commander for combat training, said.

The personnel of the testing ground, currently comprising 348 people, including 36 officers and 58 ensigns, will be increased by 25 percent.

After the consultations with the NATO inspectors that visited the testing ground this week the authorities worked out a plan of modernisation the testing ground's mean lines of fire and firing fields in compliance with NATO standards.

The modernisation demands investments but the Ukrainian military authorities hope the capital will recover very soon, Kondratenko added.

In accordance with the specialists, a monthly training of one peacekeeping company at Yavorovo will cost the customer some USD100,000.
