EMERGENCY MINISTRY TO RE-SIGN CONTRACT ON BE-200 AMPHIBIANS

MOSCOW, February 11 (AVN) -It is planned to re-sign a contract on supplying the Emergency Ministry with BE-200 amphibians produced at the Irkutsk aviation plant, Sergey Tretiak, the plant's representative in Moscow, told the Military News Agency.

The customer did not fulfil the terms of the previously signed agreement due to lack of money.

In accordance with the new variant of a contract the Emergency Ministry will receive three BE-200 in 2001, two amphibians in 2002 and two more in 2003.

All aircraft are being constructed at the moment.

The alliance is able to produce six BE-200 a year and has an opportunity to double the production with minimum expenses if necessary. At the moment the capacities of the plant allow for increasing the production figures up to 30 planes per annum.

At present about USD160m have been invested in the programme.

Experts say that the market needs about 300-350 BE-200 aircraft.

Foreign clients are offered the amphibian at USD30m.
