RUSSIAN-UKRAINIAN JV TO EXPAND REPAIRING OF BLACK SEA FLEET SHIPS

MOSCOW, February 11 (AVN) - The Lazarevskoye Admiralteistvo Russian-Ukrainian ship-repairing plant is expected to finish repairing the Kerch big anti-submarine ship in Sevastopol in April, the Military News Agency learned from the Plato investment and manufacturing group that is a co-establisher of the joint venture.

In the second half of 2000 the plant plans to repair the Moskva and the Admiral Golovko missile cruisers, and continue repairing the Ochakov big anti-submarine ship and diesel submarine of the 641-B project.

Due to a financial scheme offered by the Plato company, the Black Sea Fleet can repair its ships under the state defence order without additional money from the budget, Valery Shokhirev, vice-president of the company, told the Military News Agency.

The Ukrainian sea plant (Sevastopol) is also among the establishers.

Russia owns 57 percent shares of the joint venture which allows it to decide on the number of Black Sea Fleet ships repaired at the plant.
