MOSCOW, February 14 (AVN) - The Skala radar consortium has won the Russian Navy's tender for designing a radar for a perspective ship, Skala Director General Anatoly Tanygin told the Military News Agency.
The device will be designed on the basis of the famous Gamma-S1 SHF phased-array radar which is used in Air Force and air defence automatic management systems, Tanygin said. It ensures detection, homing, guidance and indication of a wide spectrum of modern and perspective targets, including aviation rockets, at ranges between 10 and 100 km and the altitude of up to 30 km through intensive jamming.
The first vessel to adopt the new radar is a Project 1244.1 ship.
