KHANKALA, February 15 (AVN) - Federal SU-25 attack planes, SU-24 frontline bombers and MI-24 fire support helicopters have flown over 70 missions in Chechnya in the past 24 hours, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters said on Tuesday.
The main strikes were inflicted on targets in the Argun and Vedeno gorges, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. According to preliminary data, they eliminated 14 rebel strong points, four permanent firing points, an air defence system and two communication centres. The aircraft also set up five road blocks on mountain paths.
IL-76 transport planes have airlifted about 18 tons of cargo to the combat area and took over 200 servicemen away to central Russia.
