GERMAN PEACEKEEPERS UNABLE TO PROTECT KOSOVO SERBS FROM KLA

PRISTINA, February 15 (AVN) -- Serb residents of the Orahovac and Velika Hocha towns have sent an open letter to Bernard Kouchner, special envoy of the UN secretary-general to Kosovo, complaining about crimes of the so-called Kosovo Liberation Army (KLA), the Military News Agency learned from the Russian peacekeepers staff in the town of Slatina.

According to the letter, Albanian terrorists have kidnapped more than 20 Serb residents of Orahovac whose whereabouts are still unclear. Since the establishment of peacekeeping forces in the region, 117 houses have burned down and over 140 flats have been robbed.

The Serbs have found themselves in a sort of reservation, where they have no right for labour and freedom of movement, the letter said. German peacekeepers are unable to protect them from the KLA.
