PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, February 15 (AVN) - Poacher ships detained in the control zone of the Northeastern regional department of the Federal Border Service will have to pay the outlay for their seizure, the head of the sea guard of the department, Rear-Admiral Aleksei Remez, told the Military News Agency on Tuesday.
The border guards have already charged a bill of RUR30,000 (USD1,000) to the owners of the Japanese Meshi Maru-128 seiner for automatic cartridges and small calibre rockets spent during its chase.
The owners of the Arko-31 crabber hailing from Sakhalin, which was taken 10 days ago, are charged with yet another bill of more than RUR300,000 (USD10,500).
The border guards chased the crabber for almost 24 hours, and now the poachers are to repay the cost of wasted fuel, burnt kerosene, and some 80 projectiles fired at the ship.
The military lawyers asked by the Agency provided no comment on that case, and said that this is the first time when border guars claim their right to be paid for their services.
