KHANKALA, February 15 (AVN) - Additional field engineering units will be sent to Grozny in the next few days, a spokesman for the unified federal headquarters said on Tuesday.
Continuous shelling of the Chechen capital ruined over 80 percent of high-rise residential and administrative buildings and about 50 percent of private houses, the spokesman told the Military News Agency. Besides, a lot of surviving multi-storey buildings are likely to collapse.
Field engineers are to restore main streets and bridges and clear the city from mines, landmines and unexploded shells. Seven mines have already went off with victims among civilians.
