JAPANESE NAVY CHIEF-OF-STAFF TO VISIT RUSSIAN MISSILE CRUISER

MOSCOW, February 15 (AVN) - The Japanese Navy Chief-of-Staff Kosei Fujita, who is now visiting Russia on invitation of Navy Commander Vladimir Kuroyedov, will visit the city of Vladivostok, Russian Pacific fleet main navy base, on Wednesday, a source in the Navy staff told the Military News Agency.

Admiral Kosei Fujita will meet the Pacific Fleet Commander, Admiral Mikhail Zakharenko there and mount on board the Varyag guard missile cruiser.

This is the first time a high ranking Japanese military commander visits Russia. In the period of 1926 to 1996 Russia and Japan exchanged no official visits of naval ships. Since 1996 the Japanese warships have stayed in Russian ports for two times. The Russian Navy returned the visits.
