MOSCOW, February 15 (AVN) - Ministers of the European countries which signed an agreement on forecasting, prevention and relief works in natural cataclysms and technogenic disasters will meet in Athens from February 20 to 22.
The Russian delegation to the forum will be headed by Deputy Prime Minister and Emergency Minister Sergei Shoigu, a ministry spokesman told the Military News Agency.
Several important agreements are likely to be signed in the course of the meeting, the spokesman said. One of them is the Russian-Greek intergovernmental agreement on co-operation in prevention of emergency situations and relief works.
Russia has provided Greece with relief workers and equipment twice in the past two years. Emergency Ministry rescuers worked in Athens after the devastating earthquake of 1999. Besides, the ministry's fire-fighting aviation group spent 3.5 months in Greece extinguishing forest fires.
