MOSCOW, February 17 (AVN) - The transfer of Russia's best investigators to the North Caucasus did not affect the criminal situation in other Russian regions, Major-General Vyacheslav Trubnikov, head of the Interior Ministry chief criminal investigation department, said on Thursday.
At the same time, some "local negative consequences" are indeed possible in certain Russian regions, as the most experienced officers have been sent to Chechnya, Trubnikov told the Military News Agency.
Despite measures taken by the department to improve information and technical backing of criminal investigation bodies, "there are still more than enough problems in this sphere," the general said. Investigators are especially suffering from lack of communication means, transport and office appliances, he added.
