MOSCOW, February 23 (AVN) -- The State Duma, lower house of the Russian parliament, has stated the structure of the Defence Committee, the Military News Agency learned from the Duma administration.
The Defence Committee will have four sub-committees to deal with military policy and army development; Armed Forces training and service; Armed Forces supplying and defence industry; social security of servicemen and members of their families and connections with social organisations.
The committee also stated the stages in its work over ratification of different international agreements including the START-2 treaty.
Due to the initiative of the committee the Duma decided to send a group of parliament members to the federal detachments and Interior Ministry troops in the North Caucasus and those stationed in Moscow and Leningrad regions to scrutinise the terms of servicemen's life, their social security and social security of members of their families, and to see whether these correspond with the Russian Federal legislation.
The group of the Duma Defence and Security Committees is expected to leave for the North Caucasus in the near future.
