SEVASTOPOL UNI TO ADMIT RELATIVES OF BLACK SEA FLEET SAILORS, VETS

SEVASTOPOL, February 28 (AVN) - The Sevastopol branch of the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MGU) has to be in full readiness to admit 100 students by September 1, 2000, the Military News Agency learned on Monday.

This project has to be realised in the best possible way, Leonid Zhunko, the chairman of the city administration, told a meeting of the co-ordinate council for setting up the MGU branch in the city.

The entrants will be mostly relatives of Black Sea Fleet sailors and veterans, Vice Admiral Gennady Suchkov, deputy commander of the Black Sea Fleet and the chairman of the council, said. However according to the international status of the University, entrants from other regions of Ukraine will be admitted as well.

The education costs for one student will make about USD2,000 a year.The Moscow government has plead to fully finance the project.

According to MGU president Viktor Sadovnichiy, the registration of the branch has already been co-ordinated with Ukrainian authorities. The Ukrainian government fully supports the project, Zhunko said. According to him, one of the main tasks is to form the legal status of the new university correctly.
