RD-600V ENGINE SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETES FIRST STAGE OF STATE TESTS

MOSCOW, March 10 (AVN) -- The new RD-600V engine intended for KA-60 Cowfish transport-landing helicopters has completed the first stage of state tests, Stanislav Lushin, Kamov's deputy designer general told the Military News Agency.

According to Lushin the results of the tests are compliant with the stated characteristics of the engines. The 220kg engine has the capacity of 1300hp, and 1500hp in augmented mode.

The RD-600V is a module-engine. It has an electronic digital double-channel automated management system with a reserve hydro-mechanic channel and a powerful control and diagnostics system. The servicing of the engine during its life term will be conducted based "on its technical state."

The mass production of RD-600Vs has started at the Rybinskiye Motory plant. Currently several dozen engines have already been manufactured. The market for RD-600V for the next six years is assessed at approximately 1,500 engines.
