MINSK, March 13 (AVN) - An aide to the Belarussian Defence minister on Monday refuted media reports that Russia is planning to station its nuclear missiles and strategic bombers in the territory of Belarus.
"Russia has never been discussing the return of nuclear weapons to the territory of the republic with us," Major-General Yuri Portnov told the Military News Agency.
Russian pilots do get acquainted with Belarussian airfields, as well as Belarussian pilots study Russian ones, Portnov said. It is done under the agreement on joint use of military infrastructure in the interests of the regional troops group which is currently being created, and this practice was established already two years ago.
However relocation of the Russian Air Force to Belarus is out of the question, the general stressed.
