PACE DELEGATION SHOULD BE SATISFIED WITH VISIT TO CHECHNYA -- MP

MOSCOW, March 13 (AVN) - Russia did its best to organise the trip to Chechnya for the delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) properly, Dmitry Rogozin, head of the foreign affairs committee of the State Duma lower house of parliament, said on Monday.

The organisers took all wishes expressed by the PACE representatives into account, Rogozin told reporters at the Russian Information Centre. In addition to the originally planned trip to Argun, the representatives were given a chance to meet residents of Grozny and visit the detention ward in Chernokozovo. The PACE delegation should be satisfied with the organisation of their trip, Rogozin said.

According to him, the representatives were willing to control Russia without providing any real aid. He denounced all manifestation of double morale, saying it was not possible to reproach Russia for anything without condemning NATO's actions in Yugoslavia. Speaking about the hardships the Chechen population is suffering, we cannot forget about dozens of thousands of Russian people who suffered from the criminal regime in Chechnya, he added.
