TWO FEDERAL GENERALS COME UNDER SNIPER FIRE IN CHECHNYA

KHANKALA, March 15 (AVN) - The hostilities in the locality of Komsomolskoye are practically ceased, but some severe fire-fights still outburst from time to time on the southern outskirt of the village, a source in the Western federal headquarters told the Military News Agency.

At 0900 GMT Colonel-General Mikhail Labunets, Interior Ministry troops North Caucasusian district commander, and Major-General Grigory Fomenko, Interior Ministry group commander came under sniper fire.

The sniper was eliminated in some minutes. No one among Russian servicemen was wounded.

Elite policemen and SWAT troops are now combing all the buildings and basements of the locality. A lot of bodies of militants are found in the ruins of the village. The losses among the federals made 5 killed and 10 wounded as of Tuesday.

Notorious Chechen warlord Ruslan Gelayev has not been exposed yet, he has not gone on the air (his call sign is Angel). According to unverified data the federals detained two sisters of Gelayev, while they were trying to leave the controlled territory. The captured rebels tell that Gelayev was in Konsomolskoye with his wife and mother until recently, the source said.
