MOSCOW, March 15 (AVN) - Kolomna Machine Design Bureau state unitary enterprise completed the tests and preparation of Arena system to batch production, Nikolay Gushchin, the bureau's director and constructor-general told the Military News Agency.
The system is designed for active protection of armoured vehicles from anti-tank guided missiles, RPG class grenade launchers and other types of anti-armour weaponry.
The Arena system has special rounds within its construction that blast the in-coming missiles in split second before the missile contacts the armour. The explosion is thus made on the surface of the armour which prevents the crew and equipment from effective fire.
The system has no analogues in the world. The USA, France, Germany, Turkey and some other countries have already showed their interest in the system, Gushchin said.
