NATO'S AGGRESSION TOWARDS KOSOVO TURNING INTO POLITICAL AND ECONOMIC METHODS

MOSCOW, March 17 (AVN) - Alexander Shabanov, deputy chairman of the State Duma international affairs committee stated that NATO prolongs its aggression in the Serb territory of Kosovo, using different methods of economic and political character.

The statement was made after a group of Russian deputies returned from Belgrade and Pristina. The separation of Kosovo from Yugoslavia was de-facto, Shabanov stressed. 260,000 Serbs left the territory. All Serb villages, which were visited by the Russian delegation to Kosovo, are rebuilt in Albanian-Islamic pattern. Many of the villages changed their names. 200 Albanians illegally immigrated there from Albania and Macedonia.

According to Shabanov, NATO's political aggression towards Kosovo lies in that the UN civil mission under head of Bernard Kouchner contravenes the UN SC base resolution on Kosovo N1244. The Albanians and Serbs living in Kosovo get their ID-cards changed. The Yugoslav authorities are excluded from the political processes going in Kosovo, which contradicts the UN SC resolution.

Touching upon the Russian military contingent in Kosovo, Shabanov said that it performs the tasks in the zones of its responcibility and is ready for actions under critical circumstances. Russia, under authority from Yugoslavia can create in Southern Serbia bases for repairing combat vehicles of the contingent, Shabanov added.
