MOSCOW, March 23 (AVN) - Russia has suspended modernisation of the SU-24 Fencer bomber simulator due to lack of financing, a spokesman for the Air Force armament department said on Thursday.
Meanwhile, the expenses for the simulator are to recover within 11 to 12 months after it is put into operation, the spokesman told the Military News Agency.
According to military experts, each pilot of an aviation wing equipped with the modernised simulator will get additional 90 flight hours and perform over 80 percent of exercises envisaged by the frontline bomber aviation training programme. Among the exercises are launches of guided missiles, bombing and gunfire.
If the necessary amount of financing is provided, the simulator will be completed by July this year.
