MOSCOW, March 24 (AVN) - Acting President Vladimir Putin chaired a regular meeting of the RF Security Council in the Kremlin Friday, a spokesman for the SC administration told the Military News Agency.
The meeting discussed the draft concept of the Russian foreign policy, the spokesman said. Foreign Minister Igor Ivanov addressed the meeting with the report on the subject.
The participants of the sitting pointed out that the new document was developing the respective statements of the RF National Security Concept. The new draft Concept is very pragmatic. It gives a detailed specification of the main targets of Russian foreign policy, defines the ways, methods and means of their realisation.
Unlike the previous version of the document of 1993, the new Concept explicitly defines the role of the state in protecting Russian organisations and establishments abroad, as well as securing the right of Russian citizens abroad.
After the draft is amended it will be suggested for signing by the RF President.
