PETROPAVLOVSK-KAMCHATSKY, March 28 (AVN) - The Federal Security Service (FSB) department in the eastern Russian Kamctatka region has completed investigation of the criminal case brought against the captain of a Japanese vessel seized for poaching in Russian territorial waters.
Horiai Nobuki, captain of the Meshi Maru-128 trawler detained by the Federal Border Guard Service on November 27, 1999, is accused of border violation. After the bill of indictment was approved by the Kamchatka regional prosecutor's office, the case was submitted to the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky city court.
Before the trail begins, the captain will be under house arrest in a city hotel where he has spent the past three months. The last crew member of Meshi Maru-127 was deported home 1.5 months ago.
The trial date is not yet defined. Meanwhile, the vessel is already priced and will soon be put up for auction.
